George Molnar is an artist whose trademark is his sensitivity. His desire to reveal the inner person and transport the viewer to another place are always the priority. While Molnar's subject matter is varied, he is recognized for his insightful portrayal of the Navajo. Molnar's best loved paintings chronicle the life of Earlene as they disclose her transition from child to womanhood.
George's finely honed portraits are realism with a difference. They are not idealized or romanticized, but contain a technically superb realism that often startles the viewer as we almost anticipate his subject slowly turning on the canvas to meet our gaze.
Molnar's great talent is that his paintings transcend petty academic analysis. It rests on a deceptively simple proposition: the careful portrayal of real people and the experience of honest human emotions.
Living in Arizona for the past 22 years has afforded Molnar with many resources from Indian reservations and ranching life. His other interests are Granite Mountain Trading Company, an endeavor which began with his first paintings and today encompasses publishing the artwork of many different artists.
George has had two Southwest Art Magazine covers and numerous articles written about his work.
