The romance of the American frontier lives on in the paintings of Kenneth Riley. His attention to detail and historical accuracy combine with vivid, bold colors and composition to tell stories never to be forgotten. Much of his work depicts Native Americans, especially the Apache, reflecting their costumes and traditions from an earlier era.
Kenneth Riley began his career as an art illustrator in 1947. For the next 25 years, his work appeared in major magazines such as Saturday Evening Post, Life, National Geographic and Reader's Digest.
Among Riley's numerous achievements is the 1995 Prix de West Award for his painting, Sundog.
A member of the Cowboy Artists of America since 1982, his work is exhibited in the permanent collections of -
- The White House
- Smithsonian Institute
- West Point Museum
- Air Force Academy
- Phoenix Art Museum
- Custer Museum
- Cowboy Hall of Fame
- Gene Autry Museum
- Eiteljorg Museum
Legendary in scope, Mr. Riley's inimitable style transports the viewer to another place in time.
We highly recommend his book West of Camelot, The Historical Paintings of Kenneth Riley by Susan Hallsten McGarry if you can find one since it's been sold out for a few years.
